The Swedish watchmaker Sjöö Sandström founded in 1986 and made its mark on watch history in 2011 with the launch of Sweden's first dive watch, ”Landsort”In 2022, the model was given a new lease of life in a modern design, and now it's time again. Sjöö Sandström is proud to present the next chapter in the Landsort series' history: Landsort 459m D5.

Landsort has been created and developed in collaboration with the Swedish Navy to withstand the toughest conditions and a pressure equivalent to 459 metres of depth – the same depth as the deepest trench in the Baltic Sea. Following its successful relaunch in 2022, which also saw the introduction of a limited bronze version of Landsort, we are now proud to present Landsort in bronze as part of our regular collection.

Landsort D5 It has a black sand-textured dial with applied indices in white Luminova, which, together with the white Luminova hands, ensures legibility even in dark, deep water. The watch comes with two bezels, one in black sapphire crystal and one in solid bronze, making it easy to adapt its appearance to personal style and preference. The case back is made of steel to prevent discolouration and odour that can occur when bronze is worn directly against the skin. The case back is adorned with a Diving helmet, which is our way of honouring all those before us who pushed the boundaries of what is possible today.

Bronze-time satisfies not only the eye from an aesthetic perspective, but is also a function-driven choice: it is one of the oldest materials in human history with qualities such as durability and flexibility. The material also has strong associations with the sea with its natural resistance to corrosion. Bronze's tone and patina change over time where a brown, red or blue-green patina is a sign of natural corrosion, giving each watch its unique character.

  • The Landsort series has long been a central part of Sjöö Sandström's DNA, and to now have the opportunity to further develop it, 14 years later, feels incredibly exciting. Following the successful launch of the limited bronze version of the Landsort in 2022, it's a natural step to introduce the Landsort D5 as part of our regular collection.
Says Kristofer Johansson, Partner at Sjöö Sandström.
