3 electric cars – part 3: VOLVO EX60 P10 AWD

Remove

Three electric cars, three different paths to success. The Kia EV2, Volvo EX60 and Polestar 5 differ in almost every way – but show that the most memorable driving experiences are still more about character than kilowatt-hours.

VOLVO – an obvious choice
The EX60 is the one that leaves the strongest impression behind the wheel. Not because it's the fastest or most advanced, but because it manages to balance comfort and driving pleasure with such ease. After a few hours behind the wheel, one thing above all else remains: how uncomplicated it feels.

Despite Barcelona's intense traffic of Vespas, taxis and narrow streets, driving in the EX60 is unusually relaxed. The cabin is very well insulated and both wind and road noise are effectively kept out when the car is allowed to stretch out onto the motorway. At the same time, the steering is easy and requires only small movements, which makes the car easy to position, even though this is a 4.8 meter SUV. The combination of silence and easy driving is really the strength of this car.

THE COMBINATION OF SILENCE AND SMOOTHNESS IS REALLY THE STRENGTH OF THIS CAR

Comfort is also one of the car's main strengths. The suspension is soft and supple., and the most powerful four-wheel-drive version manages to carry its performance without feeling heavy or clumsy. Volvo has put a lot of work into the chassis, and it shows. But what also makes the EX60 so interesting is that it feels built for reality rather than for the spec sheet. The back seat offers plenty of space, the seating position is well thought out, and the luggage compartment contains several smart solutions that actually come in handy in everyday life. It's not revolutionary. It's just unusually well executed and well thought out. And maybe that's why the EX60 feels like one of the most complete electric cars of the year.
