Seiko introduced its first diver's watch in 1965. Since then, the company has developed new technologies, designs and features that have made Seiko Prospex divers' watches a favorite among divers and enthusiasts alike worldwide. Continuous innovation and improvements have made Seiko a leader in the category. The Marinemaster is Seiko's flagship diving series, equipped with a robust and high-performance movement with stable accuracy. Representing the highest level of Prospex watches in a diving category, the series was originally launched in Japan and now makes its global debut with three new references, one limited edition and two standard references
Inspired by Seiko's first diver's watch from 1965
This diver's watch draws design inspiration from the iconic 62MAS from 1965, the first diver's watch made in Japan.

62MAS, Seiko's and Japan's first diver's watch.
A checkered pattern inspired by waves can be found on the watch's dial, the model name ”"Navy Master"” is printed just below the Seiko logo at the 12 o'clock position. A silver-white dial adorns a limited edition celebrating Seiko's 100th anniversary, while the light blue and black dials join the Prospex collection as standard watches.

Each watch's hour, minute and second hands are inspired by the design of the original 1965 diver's watch. Readability in dark light is ensured by Lumibrite-filled indexes and a luminous dot.

Seiko's sleek mechanical diver's watch
Inside each watch is the automatic Seiko Caliber 6L37, the first movement in the slim Caliber 6L series developed specifically to meet the demands of diving while allowing for a slim profile and high comfort. Caliber 6L37 has been adapted from the previous Caliber 6L35 to have greater shock resistance while maintaining the slim profile that characterizes the 6L movement family.

For the first time in a Seiko diver's watch, the new Marinemaster creations feature an open back where you can see the mechanical movement, a feature that usually makes the watch thicker. The new watch needed to maintain the high level of water and shock resistance that Prospex usually achieves with a closed back while maintaining a slim profile. By rethinking the structure of the case and using the slim Caliber 6L37 Seiko created what is currently their thinnest mechanical diver's watch (12.3 mm).

The new design of the 39.5mm case balances functionality and aesthetics thanks to dramatic chamfering on the bezel and case, creating a slimmer and more modern look while retaining the essential profile of the classic 62MAS from 1965. The combination of the brushed and mirror-polished surfaces of the case and bracelet gives the design a sophisticated contrast and elegance.
A new bracelet
Wearability and comfort are of utmost importance in Seiko Prospex divers’ watches, and in the new Marinemaster models a new bracelet with elliptical links contributes to this. This, combined with the slim case and high-performance movement, ensures that the new Marinemaster is filled with the essence of a Seiko classic while also looking to the future.

The new Marinemaster creation with a silver-white dial will be limited to 1,000 pieces. All three watches will initially be exclusive to Seiko stores from December and will then be available at selected retailers worldwide in January 2024.
100 years of Seiko on the dial
Since 1881, Seiko has continued to innovate in line with its founder's philosophy of: "Always be one step ahead of the rest." In 1924, the company introduced the first wristwatch with ”"Seiko"” on the dial, marking the start of the brand. The year 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of this historic event.
