MB&F HM9 Sapphire Vision  

MB&F has always stood by its credo: “A creative adult is a child who survived” and the HM9 Sapphire Vision demonstrates just how far that creative impulse can evolve under the discipline of true horological engineering. 

The remarkable case, a sculptural fusion of sapphire crystal, titanium and gold, inspired by the aerodynamic forms of mid-century automobiles and aircraft, represents one of the most technically ambitious constructions in modern watchmaking. 

The form recalls a jet engine, and the complexity runs just as deep. Inside, twin balance wheels operate independently on either side, their outputs unified by a central planetary differential that averages their rates into one precise time display. The result is conceptually elegant and mechanically rigorous—a design that performs as boldly as it looks. 

Founder Maximilian Büsser has called the HM9 engine, “the most beautiful movement we’ve created to date.” In the HM9 Sapphire Vision editions, that claim is laid bare: the movement is enclosed in a transparent sapphire shell, offering a full, unmediated view of MB&F’s most intricate creation to date. 

Launched in 2021, MB&F’s HM9 Sapphire Vision is a futuristic ode to horological sculpture. The manually wound in-house movement contains 301 parts and 52 jewels, offering a 45-hour power reserve. MB&F’s whimsical approach extends to dual spherical turbines beneath the movement, offering shock protection and captivating visual kinetics. This is wearable art. Each colour reference is limited to just five pieces.
Though prices begin at €362,000 plus taxes, limited runs and custom editions sell for well above
€1 million on the secondary market.
