The Hölstein-based watchmaker’s retro classic diver series, the Divers Sixty-Five, is now equipped with the independent’s proprietary automatic Calibre 400 movement, which Oris launched in 2020. The anti-magnetic Calibre 400 Series movements have more than 30 anti-magnetic components and exceed the norms required by the ISO 764 enhanced anti-magnetic standard.

Considering that we are today surrounded by smartphones, tablets, and earphones, most of which emit magnetic fields – which can damage mechanical watch movements – watch collectors will be glad of the enhanced protection.

This revolutionary automatic movement also boasts a five-day power reserve, meaning you can leave it on your bedside table for nearly a week and it will still be functioning. This grants the hugely popular Divers Sixty-Five series, first introduced in 1965, a ready-to-wear daily appeal.

And if the reserve does run out, no drama – Oris has made setting Calibre 400-powered watches accurate and straightforward by including a quick-set corrector for the instantaneous date function plus a stop-seconds mechanism for precision setting of the time.

This is the first Divers Sixty-Five with a 12-hour bi-directional rotating steel bezel, which is designed to serve as a second time zone. Oris has replaced its usual minutes scale on the notched, bi-directional bezel with a blackened aluminium insert. Now, a 12-hour scale provides the second time zone, so frequent travellers will be even more attracted to this stunner.

This bold yet understated 40mm time and date watch also marks the first time that the Divers Sixty-Five marries a black dial with white Super-LumiNova indications and a sapphire crystal display caseback. Oris include a generous 10-year warranty and recommend 10-year service intervals.

Price/availability: $3,500 with a black leather strap with a stainless-steel buckle or $3,700 with a multi-piece stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp. Available via Oris online.
